Library Regular Hours Have Returned

Beginning Monday, September 28, the library will be resuming regular service hours, with no appointment needed.  Building occupancy will remain under 25%, and masks and hand sanitizer use is required of all visitors.

Employment Opportunity

Blue Island Public Library is seeking an innovative, customer service oriented professional to lead our busy Youth Services Department. The Youth Services Manager is responsible for the development, promotion, and implementation of library services, resources, and programs for children aged 0-tween and their parents/guardians in the Blue Island community.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with school and community outreach
  • Thorough knowledge of juvenile literature and collection development
  • Positive supervisory and budget management experience
  • Expert technology and virtual programming skills
  • Ability to work pleasantly and effectively with staff, management, and patrons
  • Ability to translate children's interests and needs into programs and services for a diverse population
  • MLS/MLIS from an ALA accredited school or Master's degree in related field
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus
